Is there a minimum age for renting from you?
We prefer to work with customers who are 25 years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. Nevertheless, depending on your circumstances, whenever possible, we always try to be flexible.
If you are below 25 years, consider checking with your insurer to find out if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Could you accommodate adults with children?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb up a little ladder. If this is an issue, we offer an additional tent with every package which you may set up on the ground beside the camper vehicle. This could be more suitable for both you as well as your young ones.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
Our camper trucks fit three individuals maximum, though in case there are more within your group, we do offer an extra tent, as well. With this, we can easily allow for about 5 people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Certainly, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards and fins on request for a fee. Just let us know beforehand if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guidebook or a map with the greatest areas to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to visit & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Specifics About Camping Permits
Can I visit any beach for camping?
You can drive up to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We will provide you with a list of the ideal places to check out and to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we just able to visit official camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You can only camp in specified areas with secured camping permits. The associated fee is approximately $3 per night in most Kauai county parks, though private campsites may be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have total access to facilities, such as showers, restrooms and picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.
What campgrounds do you recommend with the rooftop camping tent?

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It is definitely a good idea to get your Kauai camping license before your trip. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night beforehand. Payment methods accepted with this application are bank checks and money orders. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You can also obtain them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
No matter if you choose to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to camp at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to receive your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them right away.
